Hull Truck Youth Theatre presents…
ANIMAL FARM

By George Orwell and Adapted by Peter Hall
Directed by Claire Newlove and Lee Green

Wednesday 4th April and Thursday 5th April at 7.30pm;
Saturday 7th April at 2pm and 7.30pm
(No performance on Good Friday 6th April)

Ticket demand is rapidly growing for this exciting production of the George Orwell classic Animal Farm. It follows the phenomenal success of Hull Truck Youth Theatre’s recent productions of Once A Catholic and Game Boys And Consule Cuties.

Talented youth theatre directors Claire Newlove and Lee Green, who both started their careers as youth theatre members, bring to life George Orwell’s classic tale with a cast of 12. Hull Truck Youth Theatre’s interpretation of Animal Farm involves multi-role play, and is performed in a minimalist setting with a bare wood stage, and symbolic use of colour. It features a number of accapella songs sung in the ‘slave’ tradition; echoing the prevalent Wilberforce theme. A narrator tells the story and steps in and out of the action.

The production is a challenging piece of theatre, which demonstrates the importance of Hull Truck’s Education Department, the directing skills of its staff, and the versatility of its Youth Theatre’s actors. Familiar faces in the cast include Kurt Tobin as Napoleon, Robert and Laura Aramayo as Squealer and Clover, Michael Burton as Old Major and Sebastian Pryboda as Snowball Napoleon’s second in command. Hull Truck’s riveting version of Animal Farm is not to be missed!
