It certainly won’t be a white Christmas at Hull Truck Theatre, it’ll be a… Blue Cross Xmas!

Thursday 6th December 2007 – Saturday 19th January 2008, 8pm

Christmas is not always as festive as it seems – ask a doctor, or police officer...or department store staff member. Blue Cross Xmas, the hilarious world premiere by Hull Truck’s Associate Director Nick Lane, takes the audience behind the counters of Jasper & Yates and into the normally secret world of the stockroom. There, things are not so festive. For while sales shoppers see Christmas as a fantastic once-a-year chance to grab cheap china, a half-price hat or a knocked-down nightie, Jasper & Yates staff see it very differently.

This sideways look at Christmas is the latest offering from Nick Lane, whose festive children’s shows such as Snow White and When Santa Got Stuck in the Fridge have attracted full houses - but this is the first time he has written a Yuletide comedy for adults. Nick’s first original adult play, My Favourite Summer, was a hit with critics and audiences alike, enjoying rave reviews and packed theatres during a nationwide tour earlier this year.

Blue Cross Xmas stars Hull Truck regular and cast member of last year’s festive hit Christmas Crackers, Rob Angell, first-time Truck performers Christopher Lazenby and Thea Rowland, along with Meriel Scholfield and Rebecca Clay.

Whether you’ll be joining the hordes of jostling shoppers on Boxing Day or can’t imagine anything worse, you’re sure to enjoy plenty of laughs at Blue Cross Xmas.
