The nationally renowned theatre company is preparing for its autumn tour which will mark the 30th anniversary of John Godber’s critically acclaimed Bouncers.
The theatre will continue its famous touring tradition established in
1971, following a phenomenally successful year which saw three national
Hull Truck tours hit the road, delighting theatre-goers. Over the past
year the company has visited 62 venues, from large to small, including
Skipton Cattle Market, the Victoria Theatre Halifax with 1,568 seats and
Tickton Little Theatre which accommodates just 100. Around 52,000 people
have experienced a Hull Truck production on tour in the past few months.
Hull Truck is recognised for its combination of classics and new writing
which it showcases on the touring circuit. The Autumn 06 tour of Ladies’ Day,
and the Spring 07 tour of Perfect Pitch and Nick Lane’s newly written
My Favourite Summer, yet again demonstrated the theatre’s commitment
to taking its work to new audiences at venues nationwide. David Fry,
the Head of Theatres Programming at The Lowry, said: “Hull Truck
continues to delight our audiences and win over new fans at each visit.
There’s always a buzz around the theatre and the town when Hull
Truck visit and we’re often welcoming new attenders.” Chris
Jaegar, the Director of the Swan Theatre at Worcester commented: “Hull
Truck sets a standard for middle-scale touring which few companies are
able to match.”
Now the theatre is looking forward to its 30th anniversary Autumn tour of John Godber’s celebrated Bouncers beginning in September. It will be performed at 12 venues nationwide, opening at the New Theatre Oxford, and will include Greenwich Theatre, and Sheffield’s The Crucible, before returning for a two week run at Hull Truck Theatre from Monday 19th November to Saturday 1st December.
John Godber commented: “We
continue to be an ambassador in the city and on tour and we look forward
to continuing in that vein.”
