World Premiere of Ladies Down Under Opens at Hull Truck Theatre!
Written by Amanda Whittington; Directed by Gareth Tudor Price
(Thursday 12th April – Saturday 5th May)

One of the country’s most prolific playwrights Amanda Whittington will see her first sequel, Ladies Down Under premiere at Hull Truck Theatre.

Rehearsals are well underway for this touching play which follows the epic and spiritual journey of four Hull fish filleters, Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda who embark on the trip of a lifetime to Australia, after hitting the jackpot at Royal Ascot. They jet off in search of factory manager Joe, but discover an adventure packed with more life experiences than they could possibly imagine! On go the flight socks with ‘the girls on tour’, ready to experience posh hotels, the bright lights of Sydney and the solitude of Ayers Rock.

Hull Truck had pulled off a theatrical coup by reassembling the original Ladies’ Day cast of Annie Sawle, Sue McCormick, Jemma Walker, Lucy Beaumont and Martin Barrass, with an additional actor, Australian Damien Warren-Smith. The actors, still fresh from their phenomenal smash-hit Autumn national Ladies’ Day tour which visited large scale venues, are looking forward to taking audiences on a special journey Down Under!

Tickets are red hot for this production which opens at Hull Truck Theatre on Thursday 12th April.
