Hull Truck Theatre is proud to present the
return of …
SULLY
Written by Dave Windass and Directed by Gareth Tudor Price and Martin Barrass
Thursday 10th – Saturday 26th May 8pm
Hull Truck Theatre is proud to present
the return of Sully following its enormous sell-out success last year.
The play celebrates Clive Sullivan’s
life, from his childhood in Wales to flying up the wing for Hull FC and Rovers.
The famous black Welshman scored more than 350 tries for both Hull FC and
Hull Kingston Rovers and united the city of Hull. He won a special place
in the heart of the nation when he stood tall as the last British captain
to lift the Rugby League World Cup. But there was one battle he couldn’t
win, the fight against cancer.
Hull writer Dave Windass recreates dramatic and poignant moments shared by Clive and his family in a moving piece of theatre which highlights his most glorious and challenging times, not only as a Rugby League legend who was a hero to many people, but as a loving family man.
Actor Fidel Nanton steps into the boots
of the late, great, Clive Sullivan in what promises to be another moving
performance. Hull Truck’s Education
Assistant Lee Green, who also appeared in the original production, is coming
back to tread the boards, and talented Hull actress Amy Thompson, (last seen
at Truck in Christmas Crackers), will join them. In May 2006 Sully was hailed
by the Yorkshire Post as having: “wit and an abundance of heart.” The
new production of Clive Sullivan’s incredible story promises to be
as full of energy and emotion as the first. Some tickets are still available
(£6 - £15.50), but it is advisable to book early to avoid disappointment.
