RED HOT TICKETS FOR HULL TRUCK’S SPRING FESTIVAL!
Monday 26th – Saturday 31st March
There’s only a month to go before Hull Truck’s Spring Festival bounces into the theatre with its week long eclectic programme of drama, music, comedy and dance and tickets are selling fast!
The London Shakespeare Workshop’s unmissable drama Black Atlas which commemorates the bi-centenary of the abolition of slavery is one of the festival highlights, and comes only days after the city re-opens Wilberforce House. The performance is part of the city’s Wilberforce 2007 Hull celebrations and is performed by a mixture of professional actors and ex-offenders. Set in Regency England, it tells the tale of two slaves - one is taught to read and the other isn’t.
The acclaimed Fecund Theatre Company, which last performed at Hull Truck in the autumn of 2005, presents a contemporary love story about two people connecting through an intense sexual experience. Fecund is regarded as one of the country’s most avant-garde theatre companies. The performance contains scenes of a sexual nature and violence, and is suitable for adults only.
The festival boasts the triumphant return of comedian Daniel Kitson whom The Observer describes as ‘a masterpiece of stand-up,’ and it sees popular Lucy Porter back at Hull Truck, performing her show ‘The Good Life’ after a sell-out season at the Edinburgh Festival.
The Red hot talent continues to unfold with Subitango combining the passionate dance and music of Tango Argentino. The show sold out at Truck in 2005 and is back by popular demand. The Black Umfolosi 5 are set to yet again captivate the audience with their gumboot dance of South Africa, and acapella harmonies, in a show which the Yorkshire Post praises for its: “‘feel good factor with a capital ‘F’.”
Children will be entranced by The Two Bum Bun from Moby Duck, (the creator of The Tiger Trail and Granny Vampire) which blends story-telling, puppetry and dance, combined with music and wild exotic humour! The production is suitable for families and children age four plus.
Book early before all tickets are snapped up!
Hull Truck is due to announce the acts for its 2007 Autumn Festival in July.
