Raising
the roof!
Construction of the new Hull Truck Theatre
took a major step forwards this week with the installation of steelwork which
forms the roof structure.
Staff from Quarmby Construction Company worked through the night on Monday to install the huge beams.
The largest truss weighed 14 tons. Five other beams, each 17 metres long and weighing six tons, were also installed.
The steels were brought along Ferensway on low loaders, and a specialist 69-metre crane was set up in Portland Street and used to lift the steelwork into position.
Construction of the building is due to be completed
later this year and the building will open to the public in spring 2009.
