Relaxed Performances
Relaxed performances are specifically designed for those who thrive in a more informal and relaxed setting. They include additional lighting and a friendly attitude to noise and movement inside the theatre (both voluntary and involuntary). Pre-show there will be a resource table in the foyer and the cast will introduce themselves, from the stage, before the show starts. A show experience guide will also be available, detailing any special effects and content. We can also offer some extra space if you need it, just let us know when you book.

Ear Defenders & Sensory Items

We have a small number of ear defenders available to loan (suitable for baby, toddler and adult) which can be useful for patrons with auditory sensitivities.

We also have a small number of wobble cushions and weighted lap blankets available, along with a range of sensory toys.

Please feel free to bring with you any items that usually assist in coping with busy or noisy environments - for example ear muffs, ear plugs, sensory toys or sunglasses.

Pre-Show Experience Guide

For all Hull Truck Theatre Productions we create a show experience guide, for anyone who may want to familiarise themselves with the show before their visit. It includes images of the cast, the stage and set, a visual story, details of any special effects and show content.

Show experience guides will be linked below, when available.

Quiet Space

Prior to each relaxed performance there will be an allocated quiet space available for customers who may need a break from crowded areas or excessive noise. This space will also be available throughout the performance and a live stream of the production will be available so you don't miss anything! Please see a member of the Front of House team on the day for more information.

Pre-Show Visit & Flexible Entry Times

If you would like to arrange a pre-show visit to the theatre, we'd be more than happy to help. Please contact the Box Office on 01482 323638 or email boxoffice@hulltruck.co.uk to arrange a suitable time to come in and familiarise yourself with the theatre space.

If you, or a member of your party, would benefit from getting to your seats ahead of the crowds or after everyone else is seated, please give us call/email and we can discuss options.

Lighting & Sound Effects

Many of our productions use dramatic lighting and sound effects, along with water-based haze. If you are concerned about the use of any of these, please contact the Box Office for more information near to the performance date, once the show design will have been confirmed.

Disabled & Essential Companion Discount

Patrons who identify as disabled and require an essential companion, to be able to attend the theatre, will be offered half priced tickets* when purchased as a pair. If your access needs require you to attend the theatre with more than one essential companion, or you have any questions regarding booking this concession, please call or email the box office to discuss how we can best provide a service that suits your needs. If it is your first time booking the half-priced access tickets, please contact us so that we can discuss your requirements and set you up with the facility to be able to book these tickets online or at the box office.

If you do not need an essential companion ticket, but identify as disabled, you can still receive a concession priced ticket. These concessions, when available, can be booked online and at the box office.
