Hull Truck Youth Theatre brave the rain for Our Mutual Friend

Youth Theatre began full time rehearsals for Our Mutual Friend with a soggy photoshoot by the Humber.

Over 55 members of our Youth Theatre unite on the main stage for the first time for the world premiere stage adaptation of Charles Dickens’ final novel, in a special celebration for Hull's year as UK City of Culture.

The story was originally set by the River Thames, but playwright Bryony Lavery has relocated it to the mud-slicked banks of the Humber. So on the first day of rehearsals we took the cast and creative team down to the river for what turned out to be quite a rainy photoshoot.

We’d planned to take photos of the cast on a beautiful summer’s day with the Humber as the backdrop, but of course the heaven’s opened! They put on their coats (and brave faces) and had their photos taken by Chris Pepper at Jemstar Images. We’ll use the photos in the centre of the programme which audiences can purchase at the theatre before the show.

Our Mutual Friend runs from Wednesday 16 August to Saturday 19 August. Find out more about the show here
