Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Theatre captions are similar to television subtitles and convert spoken word in to visible text that provides deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people with access to live performances. Captioned performances are also aimed at those whose first language is not English.
We hold off sale a number of seats that offer the best views of the caption screens and these can be booked by calling the box office or popping into the theatre. We are excited to announce that Caption tickets can now also be booked online.
If you regularly require seats for captioned performances, we would love to show you how to book them online, yourself. Call the box office on 01482 323638, or email firstname.lastname@example.org, and we’ll set this function up and give you some simple instructions.

An induction system operates in both The Heron and Studio Theatres, and allows those who are hard of hearing to increase the volume of the dialogue on stage. A Sennheiser ‘necklace’ can be borrowed from the box office and we offer both in ear or over ear headphones.
You are welcome to bring your assistance dog into both The Heron and the Studio Theatres. Please inform the Box Office staff, when booking, so that we can seat you appropriately. Alternatively, our Front of House team are happy to dog sit for you.
