Hull Truck Apprentice Blog #6

Last Tuesday marked the first press night that we’d ever worked, during which Draya was blessed with her first ever official Hull Truck polo shirt – an item that she will treasure forever. Our press night duties mainly consisted of manning the #selvis booth with a Polaroid camera, which we used to get some pretty good photos to string up around the foyer whilst Martha, Josie… continues its run. The Twitter machine has been a big success – or it was, before it betrayed us and broke down – and we’ve given away a lot of prizes already, but there are still plenty left, and plenty more #selvises to be taken!

The show itself has been doing really well, with the cast earning themselves another standing ovation on press night. There’s still a chance to get free tickets if you’re under 26 and a new booker with the Try Something New campaign we mentioned a few posts back, so why not pop in and treat yourself and a friend to a fun, free night out doing something a little different? It’s definitely a show not to be missed!

As well as MJCE, at the end of this week we also have our very own Youth Theatre’s double bill The Circle of Chalk and The Castle running in our studio theatre. I popped into the rehearsal room last Friday during a rehearsal of The Castle to see how things were going and it’s looking good! The cast is full of brilliant young actors and the story is delightfully odd, which is always a plus in my opinion. The show is running from Thursday 25th to Saturday 27th March, and it’s definitely worth checking out.
