Hull Truck Theatre’s Christmas production of The Borrowers is now officially on sale!

This Christmas audiences are invited to discover a hidden world with our enchanting production of The Borrowers, directed by Hull Truck Theatre’s artistic director Mark Babych. Based on the classic novel by Mary Norton, this adaptation by Charles Way will surprise and delight both little “human-beans” and grown-ups alike, as we dive beneath the floorboards and meet Arrietty Clock and her Borrower family as they embark on an exciting adventure. Mark Babych, Artistic Director at Hull Truck Theatre, said: “Am thrilled to be directing this timeless family classic for this year’s festive production. With our trademark blend of imaginative staging, spectacular set and costume designs and beautiful music, our story begins in East Yorkshire during the time of the Hull Blitz, where a young boy from Hull is evacuated to a large country house and discovers there’s more than mice living underneath the floorboards! Charles Way’s adaption with new music by composer John Biddle is a delightful heart-warming tale of courage, friendship and adventure and a perfect way for all the family to experience the magic of live theatre.” John Biddle returns to Hull Truck Theatre as composer in 2024. Projects as Composer/Sound Designer includes Pinocchio 2023, A Christmas Carol 2022 (Hull Truck Theatre); Possible (National Theatre Wales); Dead Honest (winner British Podcast Award 2021) and Prince Charming’s Christmas Cracker, Peter Pan, Oliver Twist and Treasure Island (Hull Truck Theatre). Charles Way will adapt the story of The Borrowers after spending all his working life in the professional theatre and Patrick Connellan, with his range of design for all forms of live theatre and performance will bring the world of The Borrowers visually to life on stage through his set design.
