Each artist was given the brief to create short pieces based on the theme of joy and optimism. The artists were free to interpret this brief however they wished, whether this was about specific things that brought them joy or about people finding hope and optimism despite difficult circumstances. The plays will be released online weekly… “Hull Truck Theatre has a commitment to developing local voices and stories and we’ve been thrilled by the variety of approaches taken by the artists in response to this brief. Each piece is a deep-dive in to a different world and we can’t wait to share them beyond the walls of our theatre . As well as working with freelance artists and performers on this project, we’ve been really excited about some of our Hull Truck colleague’s involvement in the project including our Community & Learning Associate, Josie Lena Davies who directed one of the films and Oliver Copper one of the theatre’s technical team who has taken the role of Director of Photography and editor across the whole project.” – Tom Saunders, Associate Director Visit Digital Shorts | HullTruckTheatre to watch the Digital Shorts Videos as and when they are released.
