Introduction To… New Short Courses at Hull Truck Theatre this Spring!

After the success of the Introduction to Stand-up Comedy Course with Kevin Precious, Hull Truck Theatre is expanding the short courses offer to give local people the opportunity to learn more about theatre and develop their skills in this area. Hull Truck Theatre’s Introduction To… programme gives adults (18+) the chance to work with professional theatre makers to deepen their understanding of theatre, express their creativity and meet like-minded individuals. With three exciting subjects to choose from during this term, participants are invited to try their hand at something new, develop confidence and make new friends. Learn more about Theatre History, Acting and Playwrighting with a weekly 2-hour deep dive (across a 6-week period) from Tuesday 22 April until Tuesday 27 May. Introduction to… Theatre History will be led by Associate Director of Hull Truck Theatre, Tom Saunders and will explore the different eras in theatre history – starting from Ancient Greece and taking us right up to present day. Introduction to… Playwrighting will be led by professional playwright and Hull Truck Theatre Alumni, Lydia Marchant and run through the basics of script development – from developing dialogue to crafting a compelling storyline. Introduction to… Acting will be led by professional actor, Peter McMillian and take participants on practical journey, analysing theatre exercises, voice, characterisation and scene study.
