This Christmas we are excited to invite you to join us at Hull Truck Theatre for Oliver Twist, an adventure of a lifetime with this festive adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel. This family favourite will be live on stage from Fri 28 Nov 2025 – Sun 4 Jan 2026, with tickets now on sale – including some enticing Early Bird offers. Expertly directed by Hull Truck Theatre’s Artistic Director Mark Babych, Deborah McAndrew’s dramatic and highly theatrical adaptation will take audiences into the grimy criminal underworld of Dickensian London, following the story of young orphan Oliver Twist. Born into a life of poverty, raised in a workhouse and sold into an apprenticeship, Oliver escapes to London where he is befriended by the charismatic Artful Dodger and recruited into Fagin’s band of pickpockets and thieves. Mark Babych, Artistic Director at Hull Truck Theatre, said: “I am thrilled to be directing this adaptation of Charles Dickens’ much loved classic novel. I’m looking forward to re-visiting this magical show once again at Hull Truck Theatre. The perfect alternative to pantomime over the holidays, Deborah McAndrew’s thrilling take on Oliver’s journey to London is full of adventure, twists and turns and is sure to captivate and delight audiences of all ages during the festive season” Jam packed with songs and dance, the show will include traditional much-loved carols, folk tunes and original music by composer John Biddle, who has worked on a number of past Christmas productions at Hull Truck Theatre. Hull Trains are once again confirmed as official show sponsor, supporting Hull Truck Theatre for the sixth Christmas running, enabling them to create another magical live theatre experience.
