16 Feb 2023 | General News
Our Youth Theatre Classes take place on weeknights and on Saturdays giving young people aged 7-18 the chance to experience the thrill and creativity of performance. The classes develop the confidence and skills needed to make and perform theatre, as well as being a place to have fun and make friends. All of our Youth Theatre members will perform to an audience at Hull Truck Theatre during the year and we are excited and proud to announce that Youth Theatre Takeover will be performing at Hull Truck Theatres Godber Studio between Tuesday 14th – Saturday 18th March 2023. Local Youth Theatre Showcase will open the takeover on Tuesday 14th March, where our Local Youth theatres are bringing their stories to our stage. We have worked with these groups of young people in and around Hull to create exciting and original pieces of theatre. Bringing their unique experiences and artistic voices to Hull Truck Theatre. Showcasing, both a newly devised piece of theatre and a series of monologues. Musical Differences Wednesday 15th March In the summer of Year Ten, Alex Stokes buys an electric guitar and forms his own rock group. What follows could well be the most incredible saga in the school's musical history! Surviving different line-ups, impossible love affairs and brutal school politics, by Year Thirteen Alex's band are a tightly knit four-piece and their final gig is nothing short of remarkable - but have individual members paid too high a price? Cross Words Thursday 16th March A school in Hull has a big problem. The children are at war with each other. To make matters worse the school is in a larger community which is at war with itself. Too many cross words are being spoken and everyone is getting angry and confused. Prom – Friday 17th March Everyone in Mrs Forte’s year 6 class is looking forward to the prom, it’s the event of the year. Limousines, fancy clothes, and biscuits! Mrs forte’s class have been prepping for this prom since the start of the year. A prom is a once in a lifetime experience, apart from your high school prom that is, nothing could surely ruin this one perfect night. ITTULLKYLLYOOIFFYOODOO Saturday 18th March Bell rings, school lunchtime. Tables and chairs, nothing else. Milo is on a mission. To eat curry and ice cream on the same spoon. The rest of his class warn him that if he does eat curry and ice cream on the same spoon ‘ITTULLKYLLYOOIFFYOODOO’ they heard it from Scrag. But Scrag heard it from his mum. Who heard it from his dad. Who knew a man. Who had a friend who died in agony eating curry and ice cream. The Forest – Saturday 18th March This is a story of a child. Of a child just like you… Of many children who have come before and after him. A tale of loss, friendship, and courage. For the sake of this story, we will name this one Jake. Jake is a prince. Jake has lost their mother, and ever since they have been sad and lonely. You can support our youth theatre by booking tickets now between Tuesday 14th – Saturday 18th March by calling our Box Office on 01482 323638 or you can book online via the ‘What’s On’ page of our website - What's On | HullTruckTheatre
The adults can’t seem to solve this puzzle. The mayor talks nonsense, the journalist spreads gossip and the parents, well, the parents are exhausted. Nothing seems to work. Nothing fits. In fact, when it comes to working things out nothing makes sense anymore.
The children don’t know what to do and they don’t have the words to fix things. But as the grown-ups aren’t listening, they have to do something - but what?
Then, the sky mysteriously changes colour and a storm threatens. A storm that will change everything…
Little do they know, Tommy Buck, everyone’s friend, is hosting his birthday party... ON PROM NIGHT.
So, it must be true? Right?
Aunt Beatrice said the garden of piece is just there across the forest and that’s where Mum is. Let’s go!
